“Top Knockers Cricket Club is friendly nomadic team of mixed ability set up by four friends sat in a pub one cold wet evening in January 2017. Originally from Shropshire but now mainly based in London we developed a squad of players from London and the West Midlands.
With the view to get more than our one game a year we wrote down a list of friends from Shropshire, Birmingham, London & everywhere in between who had taken any interest in cricket during the time we’d known them.
Driven forward by the Club Captain, Nicholas Piers Berry, that original list of 14 or so players has bloomed into the current squad of 47 and counting. How naive were we to think we could get away with such a small squad.
Every new squad member has been welcomed with open arms and new friendships have been forged. As long as you don’t take yourself too seriously and play in the right spirit, you’re in. With our club motto: “I’ve not played since school”, we like to think of ourselves as an inclusive club for players who fancy a good knock. ”
